Cape Town Tourism Businesses Recognised in Inaugural TourismX Best Rated Awards
Cape Town's tourism and hospitality industry is being brought into sharper focus with the launch of the TourismX Best Rated Awards, recognising leading establishments across hotels, guest houses, restaurants, tour operators, attractions, caravan and camping destinations, and heritage sites and museums.
The Cape Town Edition forms part of a national TourismX Best Rated Awards series covering metropolitan areas and local municipalities across South Africa. The initiative provides an independent view of tourism performance by combining verified online customer ratings and reviews as well as measuring media visibility.
The methodology allocates 90% of the overall score to verified online ratings and customer review performance, while 10% is based on the frequency of media mentions. The combined results are calculated into an overall rating out of 10.
The Cape Grace Hotel led the Hotels category with a score of 8.87, while Blackheath Lodge and Derwent House jointly topped the Guest Houses & B&Bs category, both scoring 9.21. In Restaurants, La Colombe achieved the highest score at 9.41, with Escape+Explore leading the Tour Operators category at 9.21.
Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden topped the Attractions category with 8.87, while Imhoff Park led the Caravan & Camping Places category with 8.40. District Six Museum recorded the highest score in the Tourism Heritage Sites & Museums category, achieving 8.69.
